最初に学生時代について教えて下さい

カトリック系の高校の英語科でした。 英語を学ぶ中で、自然と海外に目が向きました。 担任や両親の影響もあり、もっと色々な世界を見た方が良いと強く感じるようになったんです。

Tell me about your school days.

I attended a Catholic high school and majored in English. While learning English, I naturally started looking overseas. With the influence of my homeroom teacher and my parents, I felt strongly that I should see more of the world.

大学での専攻は何ですか

上智大学総合グローバル学部に進学しました。 地域研究で東南アジアに関して学びながらボランティア活動に全力を注ぎました。 特にフィリピンに数回行ったのが心に残っています。 募金が実際にどう使われているのか、現地の方達がどの様な生活をされているのかを見たかったんです。 そこでは私の想像を絶する困難な状況が広がっていました。 ただ、そんな厳しい状況下でも生きる強さや、コミュニティを守り抜く逞しさを感じましたね。 日本で生活していたら気付けなかった事を目の当たりにして、一日一日を大切にしようと思うようになりました。

What did you major in at university?

I entered Sophia University’s Faculty of Global Studies. While studying Southeast Asia through regional studies, I devoted myself to volunteer activities. Visiting the Philippines several times was particularly memorable. I wanted to see how donations were actually used and what kind of lives the local people led. I encountered incredibly difficult situations that were beyond my imagination. However, I also felt the strength to survive and the resilience to protect their community despite such harsh conditions. Seeing things that I wouldn’t have noticed while living in Japan made me value each day more.

モデルを始めたきっかけを教えて下さい

大学の入学式でスカウトされました。 スカウトって本当にあるんだなって（笑）。 地元の福島では声をかけられた事がなかったので、結構驚きましたね。

How did you start modeling?

I was scouted at my university entrance ceremony. I thought, "Scouting really does happen!". I had never been approached in my hometown of Fukushima, so I was quite surprised.

昔からモデルに興味はありましたか

興味はありましたが、写真を撮られるのが苦手だったのでやれると思っていませんでした。 東京の生活に少し慣れた頃、新しい事にチャレンジしたくなって事務所に所属しました。

Have you always been interested in modeling?

I was interested, but I never thought I could do it because I didn’t like being photographed. When I got used to living in Tokyo, I wanted to try something new, so I joined an agency.

人前に出るのも苦手だったんですよね

苦手でした。ダンスで舞台に立つ事はありましたが。 小学校の頃、答えが分かっていても手を挙げないタイプでした（笑）。 でもモデルを通じて180度変わりました。 現場で初対面の方とコミュニケーションをとる中で鍛えられました。

You were not good at being in front of people, right?

I was terrible at it. Although I did perform on stage for dance, I was the type who wouldn’t raise my hand even if I knew the answer in elementary school. But modeling changed me 180 degrees. I got used to communicating with people I met for the first time on set.

ダンスのキャリアはどれぐらいですか

５歳からヒップホップとジャズダンスをしています。 東京のワークショップに参加したり、大会に出場したりとダンス漬けでした。 両親が「一度決めたらトコトンやりなさい」というスタンスだったのも影響してるかな。 最近もダンスを活かしたCMが決まりました。 これまでダンスを一所懸命やってきて良かったです。

How long have you been dancing?

I've been doing hip-hop and jazz dance since I was five. I participated in workshops in Tokyo and competed in competitions; I was immersed in dance. My parents' stance of "once you decide, go all the way" probably influenced me. Recently, I also got a commercial that utilizes my dance skills. I'm glad I dedicated myself to dance.

移籍前のキャリアを教えて下さい

テレビ番組やCMを中心に活動してきました。 番組で海外に行く機会もあり、スリランカやアンドラ公国等、アジアやヨーロッパの小さな国に行かせて頂きました。 「絶景に建つ家を探しに行こう」という企画では、スリランカの紅茶畑を訪問したんです。 そこでは、地主と茶畑の労働者との格差に愕然としました。 学生時代のボランティア活動である程度の知識はありましたが、それでも衝撃を受けましたね。 改めて本当の豊かさとは何かを考えさせられたな。 上京して人や物で溢れている生活だったので、初心に戻るきっかけとなりました。

Can you tell me about your career before moving to this agency?

I worked mainly in TV shows and commercials. I had the opportunity to travel abroad for shows, visiting small countries in Asia and Europe like Sri Lanka and Andorra. In a project called "Let's Find Houses with Spectacular Views," I visited tea plantations in Sri Lanka. I was shocked by the disparity between the landowners and the plantation workers. Although I had some knowledge from my volunteer activities as a student, it was still a shock. It made me think again about what true wealth is. Living in Tokyo, surrounded by people and things, it was a chance to return to my roots.

今後どんな仕事をやりたいですか

NMT inc.に入ったからには、これまでの広告は勿論、ファッションの仕事も増やしたいです。 息の長いモデルになるのが目標です。

What kind of work do you want to do in the future?

Now that I’m with NMT inc., I want to expand my work to include not only advertisements but also fashion. My goal is to become a long-lasting model.

最後に、今後の抱負をお願いします

NMT inc.はポジティブでいられる環境だと思います。 社長やマネージャーに相談しやすいし、こんなに恵まれた事務所はないかも。 レッスンでは一緒に頑張る仲間がいる事で、凄く励みになっています。 与えられた環境の中で、どこまで頑張れるかは自分次第だと思っています。 チャンスをものにしたいと思います！

Lastly, what are your future aspirations?

I believe NMT inc. provides a positive environment. The president and managers are easy to talk to, and there may not be another agency as blessed as this one. The lessons are very encouraging because I have comrades who work hard together with me. How far I can go in the given environment depends on me. I want to seize every opportunity!
