地元の広島でモデルをしていましたね

実は東京で活動するのは二回目なんです。 ばかみたいな話なんですけど、最初に上京した時はモデルってシンデレラになるような事だと思っていました（笑）。

You used to model in your hometown of Hiroshima, right?

Actually, this is my second time working in Tokyo. It's a bit silly, but the first time I moved to Tokyo, I thought being a model was like becoming Cinderella.

シンデレラ（笑）

若かった事もあって、東京はキラキラした夢が叶う場所だと思っていました。 結局思い描いていたものとのギャップもあって、広島に戻ることにしたんです。 今振り返ればプロ意識が足りなかったのかもしれません。

Cinderella?

I was young and thought Tokyo was a place where glamorous dreams came true. Eventually, the gap between my expectations and reality made me decide to return to Hiroshima. Looking back now, I might have lacked professional awareness.

広島に戻ってからは何をしていましたか

地元のPRに貢献できる仕事をゼロから頑張りたいと思い、サッカー番組のレポーターのチャンスを頂きました。 サッカーのルールや、選手名鑑をとにかく読み漁る毎日でした。 独自のファイルに書き込みして、オリジナル資料を作り上げたり。 記憶力には自信がありましたが、受験勉強よりも努力したな（笑）。

What did you do after returning to Hiroshima?

I wanted to start from scratch and work in a way that could contribute to promoting my hometown, so I got a chance to work as a reporter for a soccer program. I spent every day studying soccer rules and player profiles. I created my own files and made original materials. I was confident in my memory, but I think I worked harder than I did for any exam.

仕事にやり甲斐を感じていたんですね

本当に充実していました。 ただ過去を振り返ってしまう事もありました。 高校時代、友達と将来の夢を話した時の事とか。 当時、学校にはアイドルや演歌歌手を目指す友人がいたんです。 面白い環境ですよね（笑）。 そんな友人達に触発されて、私はモデルを目指すと話していました。 実際、彼女達は夢に向かって進んで行くんですけど、私だけ夢を諦めて良いのかと自問自答する様になって。

You found the work fulfilling.

I really did. However, I sometimes looked back on the past. Like when I talked about future dreams with friends in high school. At that time, I had friends aiming to be idols and enka singers. It was an interesting environment. Being inspired by those friends, I said I wanted to be a model. Seeing them pursuing their dreams made me question whether it was okay for me to give up on mine.

それでオフに東京に向かったんですね

東京で活躍しているモデルの後輩（片桐ゆたか）に会って、色々話を聞いてもらったんです。 彼女は「今すぐ東京へ出てくるべきですよ」と背中を押してくれました。 最初に東京でモデルを目指した時と、レポーターを経験した今では仕事に対する意識は全く違う。 今の自分だったらできるかもしれないと思いました。

So you decided to go to Tokyo during your time off.

I met with my junior who was working as a model in Tokyo (Yutaka Katagiri) and talked to her about a lot of things. She encouraged me, saying, "You should move to Tokyo right away." The way I viewed work had completely changed after experiencing being a reporter compared to when I first aimed to be a model in Tokyo. I thought, "Maybe I can do it now."

激しく心が揺さぶられたんですね

すぐ地元の事務所へ電話して、なんとか東京で活動するチャンスをもらえないかと相談しました。 あまりにも突然の相談だったので驚かれましたが、熱意が伝わり了承してくれました。 広島へ帰る直前、後輩の紹介でNMT inc.の面接を受けられることになって。 社長にはとにかく自分の思いをぶつけました。 最後は泣きながら話していたと記憶しています（笑）。

Your heart was deeply moved.

I immediately called my local agency and asked if there was any chance I could work in Tokyo. They were surprised by my sudden request, but my enthusiasm got through to them and they agreed. Just before returning to Hiroshima, I got an opportunity to have an interview with NMT inc. through my junior’s introduction. I poured my heart out to the president. I remember crying while talking at the end.

見事、所属が決まりました

嬉しかったですね。 まさか後輩に相談に乗ってもらった事で道が開けるなんて。 人との縁を大事にするとチャンスが巡ってくるのかもしれません。 後輩にも事務所にも感謝しています。

You successfully got in.

I was thrilled. I never thought that consulting my junior would open up a path for me. It might be that valuing connections with people brings opportunities. I’m grateful to both my junior and the agency.

東京での活動はいかがですか

昔とは全くモチベーションが違います。 漠然としたモデルへの憧れじゃなく、どう取り組むのかが大切だと思います。 例えば、現場では積極的に自分から他のモデルやスタッフに声をかけたり、情報収集を細かくして「自分は何をすべきか」を常に考えて行動するようになりました。 地元でのレポーター経験が本当に活かされていると思います。 今後もご縁を大切にしながら、仕事を続けていきたいと思います。

How is working in Tokyo now?

My motivation is completely different from before. It's not just a vague admiration for modeling, but about how I approach the work. For example, on set, I actively talk to other models and staff, gather information meticulously, and always think about "what should I do?" The experience I gained as a reporter in my hometown is really helping. I want to continue valuing my connections and keep working.
